The first two Sundays of April have been fun work days for me and gave me a bit of a boost after what seemed like a very long first quarter of the year. On April 3rd, Mina and I met up with Gio Gahol and Rachel Coates somewhere in Bonifacio Global City to record a couple of readings for the upcoming #RomanceClass April Feels Day.
It’s been a while since we last saw Gio and Rachel in person, and it was so nice to just be able to sit and catch up with them over some coffee (we spent almost three hours just talking and not working!). I was also able to meet #RomanceClass friends Anna Liza and Micah (who are working with us on media adaptations) when they stopped by that morning. I’ve met both Anna Liza and Micah briefly last year and only via Zoom, and it’s just nice to be able to actually meet people in person again after being cooped up at home for so long.
Gio and Rachel recorded four readings that day, and we will be streaming them as part of the April Feels Day 2022 program happening on the #RomanceClass Twitch channel on the 30th of April at 4PM PHT. The event is free while live, and no registrations are required to access the stream. In case you miss it, though, you can access the recording (and all other #RomanceClass content on Twitch) with a Tier 1 subscription.
The following Sunday, I got up early again and traveled to Pasig for the first in-person #RomanceClass covers shoot since the pandemic started. It’s for Angel C. Aquino’s upcoming book, Feels Like Home (Flicker #5), and we had the privilege of working with her niece, Maro Panganiban, who was every bit the perfect model. Chi Yu Rodriguez once again worked her magic behind the camera while new friend Jing Carigma took care of Maro’s hair and makeup. Mina (who was patched in via Zoom) and myself were there for moral support, lol.
As of this writing, I have already finished the initial design for the cover of Feels Like Home and am waiting for approval. We’re also hoping to reveal this on April Feels Day, so fingers crossed we get to do it!
Here’s to more in-person #RomanceClass activities this year as we go about navigating through our day-to-day, still living in this weird pandemic era. We’re excited for what’s to come, and hopefully, so are you! <3
