Last August, a video of a team of scientists pulling out a plastic straw from an Olive Ridley sea turtle’s nose had gone viral, enraging many people across the globe. This is only one of the many undocumented incidents showing how damaging marine pollution is to the entire marine ecosystem, a scenario that CURMA (Coastal Underwater Resource Management Actions) is working hard to prevent.
CURMA is a Pawikan Protection and Conservation Program operating under SIFCare (Science of Identity Foundation Community Assistance for Responsible Existence). Since its establishment in 2011, CURMA’s efforts have all been directed toward attaining these objectives: to educate people about the environment they live in, to educate people about the importance of sea turtles (pawikan in Filipino), and to promote and embody the values of conservation.
Aside fom the protection and conservation program, CURMA’s projects include hatchery management, coastal cleanups, and information and education campaigns. To date, the community has successfully released more than 7,900 pawikan hatchlings from the CURMA hatchery in San Juan, La Union and to the open sea.
Upon realizing that the stakes are no longer for survival but for their future, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence)—together with her closest friends Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson)—goes on an all-out revolution against President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

If memory serves me right, we were first given a glimpse of our adorable emotions during Big Hero 6 film previews, and I was instantly hooked. The premise was innovative and it left me wondering how Pixar was going to pull this one off.
Disney Pixar’s Inside Out had already been released in the US earlier in June, and viewers were nothing short of amazed at the entire production–the animation, the storytelling, and the execution. It has so far received a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and every day, more reviews about how Pixar has “done it again” surface on the internet.
This is very, very exciting news, not only for me, because I have been excited about this film since I’ve seen the previews, but also for moviegoers who are looking for a fun movie to enjoy with their family, friends, or colleagues. The Modworld Popcorn Club–an events entity of Modworld Production Management, Inc.–is holding a special block screening event featuring Inside Out on August 22, 2015, 8:00 PM, at the SM Megamall Cinema 6 and tickets are now available in discounted prices!
#MWPopcornClub offers a Movie Ticket + Krispy Kreme freebie combo from now until July 10 (or until coupon supplies last) for only P300 (BLUE tickets) and P360 (RED tickets: with snacks from SM SnackTime). Krispy Kreme Create-Your-Own coupons entitle you to a customized doughnut, a cup of their Signature Coffee, and an Original glazed doughnut, all for FREE!
Additionally, there is also a Movie + Play combo which includes an Active Fun Unlimited Play voucher per ticket purchase. The Movie + Play combo is available for P660 (BLUE ticket + Play voucher) and P720 (RED ticket + Play voucher). You get to save P95 per purchase and ensure a child’s enjoyment inside and outside the cinema. All Active Fun Unlimited Play vouchers are valid on weekdays at any of the Active Fun branches (Bonifacio High Street, SM Megamall, and Fairview Terraces) until October 31, 2015.
Wanna enjoy Inside Out with your family or barkada? Buy your tickets today and you may even get the chance to win special raffle prizes from our sponsors! Text or Viber 0905 304 2597, or visit www.modworldproduction.com to purchase your tickets online.
The #MWPopcornClub is working very hard to give you all a wonderful time at the movies, so see you all there! <3
It’s finally happened: Work has officially slain my writing mojo. That doesn’t mean I can’t CPR the shit out of it, though. I’m just so tired to think of anything, even if I’m pressured to come up with a plot for my next class this coming August. Sigh.
My first block screening event is finally over! There’s a lot to say about putting up this thing, but the place for that is on post-event reports and production meetings, so I’ll leave them there. What I can say, however, is that it was quite the experience. The last time I’ve been on my toes for about the same amount of time was when we produced the Koala’s March Grand Family Day event at SM Mall of Asia . . . and that was in November! It’s just too bad I didn’t lose weight over all the running I did, heh.
Also, I wish I could spazz over Jurassic World properly, but I only kind of saw 50% of the movie since I had to go in and out of the cinema to take care of business. I could tell you, however, that Chris Pratt was hot and I was just swooning inside every time his Henley-wearing ass was on-screen. <3 I also kind of freaked out a couple of times over some scenes involving the Indominus Rex, and thought the special effects were pretty darn neat.
If I’ve been very busy these past few weeks, it’s because of this baby right here–a first attempt (for me and my MA, Liezel) to organize a block screening event under the company I work for, Modworld Production Management, Inc. The event is finally happening this Saturday, and I’m equal parts thrilled and terrified, just like I was when we staged the Koala’s March Grand Family Day in November of last year. Compared to that event, of course, this one is of a smaller scale, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t as challenging.
So yes–have you bought tickets from me yet? ^_^ If you haven’t, I sincerely wish you would. Ha. Ha. <3
No, but seriously, if you have nothing to do on a Saturday night–that’s this Saturday, June 13th (8:00 PM)–come join us for this Jurassic World block screening event. Early birds get freebies from our sponsors~ and maybe even game and raffle prizes if you’re the type to be lucky. You can visit the Modworld website for tickets, or you can contact me directly at email@example.com. ^_^
The fact that I can now write another blog entry means I’ve already typed the words “THE END” on my #SparkNA manuscript–and believe me, I’d totally drink to that if I could–and am currently enjoying a few hours away from it. I have now spent a full 19 or so hours away from my still tentatively-titled book, and I’m just waiting for my editor friend, Rix, to give it a pass before I review and apply whatever changes she deems fit. I have already watched the latest episode of Running Man, eaten (almost) a whole bag of Lay’s Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips, and finished Mina Esguerra’s My Imaginary Ex (which she had up for a giveaway until yesterday). Life is good.
The Modworld Popcorn Club is inviting all movie enthusiasts to be part of our series of block screening events from June to August 2015! We are now selling tickets to Jurassic World in 3D (June 13), Minions in 3D (July 11), and Fantastic Four in 3D (August 8) with special early bird rates. To buy, simply click on THIS LINK and fill out the form on the page. Further instructions will be given to you via email.
Are you an interested block buyer or sponsor? You may contact our lovely Miss Liezel Bunao at 950 4782 / 0916 850 0007 or send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or you may send me an email a email@example.com.
The Early Bird Promo has been EXTENDED to May 31st! Hurry and buy your tickets now! ^_^
If you have been following me on Twitter, chances are, you’d see me tweeting and re-tweeting things with the #SparkNA hashtag. I know I probably kind of spam my t-list with it but whatever, I love that hashtag so much I already have a separate column for it on my Tweetdeck. Har-de-har.
The hashtag is an amazing thing, actually. As someone who frequents social media sites on the regular (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, most especially) for work and personal use, it has proven to be a handy tool for research, basically. You can find a topic of interest quickly and see what people are saying about it, and you can also get in touch with groups of people who share the same interest.
