In SB19 Justin’s world, storytelling is KING

Before anything else, I will preface this post by saying I’m a (not-so) casual A’Tin who divides her time between two houses: the maisan, and the farm. I’m not a film or music expert, and I don’t claim to know everything about EVERYTHING. This blog post contains my personal interpretation and opinions, and anything said here should not be taken as FACT.

Anyway, Justin of SB19 released a new single and music video last week called Kaibigan, and the visual storytelling just tickled my brain in a good way, so here I am, writing a blog post about how much I appreciated how detail-oriented our bunso is with his work. Obviously, for Justin, storytelling is KING, and my oh my, how I looooove what he’s been doing so far!

But before we go to Kaibigan, let me first direct you to the music video for his first single, Surreal.

Tara’s Thoughts On: SB19’s Pagtatag Finale Concert

05/18/2024

Dear Diary,

SB19 finished their first day of the Pagtatag Finale concert today. They were soooooo cute! Sabi nila, A’Tin were so instrumental to their success, kaya lang, we’re OA. React much sa lahat ng bagay kasi eh!

Mula ngayon…

Goodbye—teka, ano’ng goodbye? *Maricel Soriano voice* WALANG MAGGU-GOODBYE!!!

We might have said our farewell to the Pagtatag era, but just like Pablo said, this is not the end. And honestly, for someone like me who’s just attended her FIRST SB19 concert, this is just the beginning.

TVXQ! sings their greatest hits on Killing Voice

So I don’t think I ever posted my boys on here, but now is as good a time as any to share their awesomeness on this space. TVXQ is a duo (formerly quintet) that has been in the KPop industry for 20 years now. Yup, you read that right. Twenty years. Two decades. And putting aside my grudges about SM Entertainment not handling them very well, I’m happy they are still around and still slaying. Very hard.

Last month, they had their duo comeback and 20th anniversary celebration with an album called 20&2, and gifted us with a bunch of new material, including music videos for Down and Rebel, music show performances, as well as an amazing Killing Voice appearance (check out the video above). If you are only getting acquainted with TVXQ now (just like a bunch of YouTube reactors are—we LOVE to see it), this is a very good place to start. 30+ minutes of U-Know Yunho and MAX Changmin singing some of their greatest hits, y’all. It’s enough to make a grown up Cassiopeia cry.

Ask me how many times I’ve seen this, and I’ll say YES.

Enjoy!

Music x Book Match: Ben&Ben

In mid-December, I started a Twitter thread that matched Ben&Ben songs with #romanceclass titles, and it garnered a bit of attention from my mutuals as well as people I don't know. Because that thread was made rather haphazardly, I thought of creating a new one with better visuals and stuff, but things got busy right before the holidays, and I wasn't able to continue/complete the thread at all. And because I vowed that I would try my best to finish things I started, here's a blog post instead! <3

(NOTE: I'm going to try doing this Music x Book Match a regular thing just like Pinoy Movie x Book Match, so wish me luck!)

#BuwanNgMgaAkdangPinoy: What to read, see, and listen to

#BuwanNgMgaAkdangPinoy is the official hashtag for an online campaign spearheaded by author Edgar Calabia Samar (Janus Silang), who objective was to promote Filipino-authored pieces of literature. This happens in the month of August, which is also Buwan ng Wika or National Language Month. I was made aware of this campaign last year, and since then, I’ve been making a conscious effort to consume as many Filipino-authored books, movies, songs, and musicals/plays. If you’re looking for a #BuwanNgMgaAkdangPinoy-related media, here are some suggestions:
