COVER REVEAL: The “Forget You” Brew

*sings* Isn’t she lovely~

Back in September, I finished what was to become my second published manuscript, The “Forget You” Brew. It was part of a five-week long online workshop called #StrangeLit, in which we were taught the basics of writing in the paranormal/urban fantasy genre.

At the beginning of the workshop, a shiny perk was dangled in front of us: the promise of a pretty book cover, IF! 1) we finish a novella length manuscript (15K words and above), and 2) our story meets artist Tania Arpa’s standards. Only one story was to be chosen as the lucky winner of a book cover, and I remember feeling pretty competitive after the announcement.

Fast-forward to two weeks before deadline, I’d already resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn’t be able to make my 15k-word goal. Bye-bye shiny book cover, I told myself, but it’s okay. While trying to finish the rest of the story, I started thinking of other options for my story (Should I write a sequel/spin-off to get it to reach novella length?) and my story’s cover (Maybe I’ll get Joshua–Paper Planes Back Home‘s cover artist–to make one for me again). And then lo and behold, inspiration struck and I actually managed finishing a novella!

And then, days after I submitted my final manuscript, this happened:

I don’t know about you, but getting into this magic list with these awesome Filipino writers was an accomplishment in itself. Seriously, you should go read their stuff if you haven’t yet.

A lot of keysmashing ensued after that. Even more when this happened:

I remember staring at this photo for a good long while and telling myself, “That’s my name, right? I won?”

And the rest, they say, is history. Many, many thanks to Tania Arpa for creating the official cover for The “Forget You” Brew (and for bearing with my boring font preference, haha)!

Where will you see this book, you ask? Well, I’m very happy to announce that I will be selling a limited number of first edition copies of The “Forget You” Brew at the 5th Filipino Readercon on November 28, 2015 at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall of the De La Salle University, Manila! Not sure what that is? Click here for more information.

Simply look for the #romanceclass/Romance Writers of the Philippines booth to buy the book. I’ll also be participating in an author “speed dating” event from 1:30pm that day, so I hope to see you there! <3
