#RomanceClass x Ayala Museum: A GIF + Video Post

First things first: Please DO NOT expect much coherence from this post. I know, I know. I’m a writer… I should at least manage to string together some decent words, yes? But Too Many Feelings and Too Few Hours of Sleep can do things to the brain, so… anyway.

February 11 was another day of firsts for #romanceclass. Let me enumerate them:

  • First time holding an event at the Ayala Museum
  • First time having six actors live read scenes from our books
  • First time having a How to Write a Romance Novel lecture read by the live readers
  • First time having a three-way live reading
  • First time having Vanya Castor as a live reader

Did I miss anything?

I probably did.

So yeah, anyway… we did a lot of other stuff before the live reading. That included book and merch selling, eating FREE cookies (thanks, Abbie! :D), browsing new books at the Book Cafe (thanks Caryn! :D), finding book blind dates, and playing games. To be honest, I only had two hours of sleep prior to the event, but the energy in the room (where it happened) kept me going.

Review | The Bye-Bye Bouquet by Chi Yu Rodriguez

the byebye bouquet review banner

the byebye bouquet coverEvery month for the past year, like clockwork, Meile Simon has gotten orders at her shop for the same type of bouquet, from the same guy, delivered to twelve different girls. By the third month, she starts to take note.

Warren Leigh likes women. He does. He knows there are too many beautiful women out there just waiting to be plucked by the right guy. But he firmly believes that personal relationships with them must have an expiration date.

When the girl who likes to watch flowers bloom encounters the guy who’s only in it while the fragrance lasts, curiosity gets the best of both of them.

In the midst of intermittent weather, will their connection blossom or wilt?

What Drew Me In

Two things:

First, Chi Yu Rodriguez has been my friend since IDK 2007 (?) and we’ve been kind of writing buddies for a bit before I dragged her into this beautiful mess (haha!) called #romanceclass. So of course I knew I was going to read this book, especially since she used my Broadway bias, Aaron Tveit, as a character peg!

Second, isn’t that cover just gorgeous? It’s so out of character for the author, though, but perfect for the story. (Don’t kill me!) Another equally beautiful version of the cover exists, by the way, lovingly created by Carla de Guzman.

We Let the #FeelsRushIn, All Right!

So–yep. This happened over the weekend.

First of all, if there’s one thing I learned about #romanceclass through this event, it’s that you only have to say “#RomanceClass–ASSEMBLE!” and that’s it. Everyone who’s able to lend a bit of time to help put together a Thing in an extremely short amount of time (TEN frickin’ DAYS, people) WILL go out of their way to do so. Sure, we may have been able to do so much more given ample preparation time, but Saturday’s turnout wasn’t bad. We sold books, served feels, and had a lot of good, (somewhat) clean fun. ^_^
