#RomanceClass OPM Mix # 2
Song: Rebound by Silent Sanctuary
Book: The ByeBye Bouquet by Chi Yu Rodriguez
When I heard the first stanza of the song, I immediately thought of Warren and then when the chorus came in, Meile fitted into it. —Paula, #romanceclass reader/contributor
Song: Maniwala Ka Sana by Parokya ni Edgar
Book: She Caught Me by D.R. Lee
“Noong una kitang nakilala, di man lang kita napuna.” This song is about falling for a friend, and that is exactly what my short story is all about. —D.R. Lee, author of She Caught Me
Song: Autopilot by Reese Lansangan
Book: Fall Like Rain by Ana Tejano
When I first heard this song, I immediately thought of Rain and Mark. Like what Reese said in the video, “Para sa mga mahilig sumakay sa kotse tapos gwapo yung driver.” Haha. But on a serious note, I thought this song perfectly describes how Rain feels for Mark when they reconnected again, and how she’s trying to figure out how to make him stay for her (even if her mind keeps on going overdrive on her hehe). I especially like the part, “Would you do me a favor? Please stop being so charming if you could. I could only take so much, and you’re pulling out all the stops.” Can imagine that playing in that car ride after the college visit scene. 😀 —Ana, author of Fall Like Rain
Song: Kailan by MYMP
Book: Choco Chip Hips by Agay Llanera
Ah, young love. Originally sung by Smokey Mountain, the song Kailan easily transports you to a time when feeling butterflies in your stomach is something new and inexplicable–something I felt while reading Llanera’s book. Who wants to be noticed by whom? I suggest you pick up this book to find out. It’s so worth it. —Tara
Song: Sa Ibang Mundo by Kean Cipriano & Nadine Lustre
Book: Cities by Carla de Guzman
I caught this song by accident while watching Myx, and the first thing I thought of when I heard the chorus was Carla de Guzman’s Cities. The idea of parallel universes, and how in another time and another world they would have been together is exactly what the book is about, and now I can’t stop thinking of Celia and Ben when I hear this. —Ana, #romanceclass author/reader and contributor
Song: Bakit ‘Di Totohanin by Carol Banawa
Book: Learning to Fall by Mina V. Esguerra
Grayson and Steph have feelings for each other and yet they still stop themselves from falling in love and I believe this the perfect song for them. —Paula, #romanceclass reader/contributor
Song: Minsan by The Eraserheads
Book: First Time They Met by Ana Valenzuela
The song talks about friendship, and the MC in the book is feeling as if this is what was happening to her and her bestfriend. –Ana, author of First Time They Met
Song: Pangarap by Barbie Almalbis
Book: The Thing About Hug Replacements by Tara Frejas
The lyrics suits well with the story. There’s a version of this song sung by Karel, but Barbie Almalbis version was more soft and subtle just like Sylvie. –Irene, #romanceclass reader/contributor
Song: Your Electric Kiss is Late Always by Moonwlk
Book: Freshman Girl and Junior Guy by Mina V. Esguerra
The song talks about friendship, and the MC in the book is feeling as if this is what was happening to her and her bestfriend. —Mina, #romanceclass mentor and author of Freshman Girl and Junior Guy
Song: Luna by Up Dharma Down (Click here for the Filipino version)
Book: Be Careful What You Wish For by C.P. Santi
Because I bet you didn’t know OPM could be Japanese, too! (or maybe you knew that already, but this still fascinates me anyway.) The original Tagalog song has this line “Minamasdan ang saya ng puso mo sa piling ng iba…” and that’s what I imagine Ana to be singing to herself, at that part when she saw Ken, dancing with what’s-her-face and thinking she was his girlfriend. —Bentham, #romanceclass reader/contributor
Song: This Fight by Sarah Geronimo
Book: Songs to Get Over You by Jay E. Tria
This is totally an Ana song. You know, during that agonizing time when Miki was still trying to figure out who he really wants in his life. Just. Ugh. Listen to it. —Tara
Song: Stay by Carol Banawa
Book: With You Tonight by Georgette S. Gonzales
If you know the story behind this Carol Banawa song, you’ll already have an inkling of what happens in Gonzales’ heartbreaking story of finally accepting love and losing it. ‘Nuff said. *insert crying emoji here* —Tara
